Breaking News: Benefits and Detriment of Central Service Rules Notification in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, March 30:
The Central Government issued a notification late Tuesday night regarding the Central Service Rules in Chandigarh. The media had already raised the possibility that the notification may be issued on Tuesday. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Chandigarh on March 27 had stampeded the long pending demand of the employees of Chandigarh and announced the implementation of Central Service Rules in Chandigarh.

Amit Shah’s announcement resulted in a happy agreement in which Chandigarh was given to Punjab. The government is ignoring all agreements and rights. Chandigarh is an issue related to the sentiments of Punjab. Thousands of employees are going to benefit from the issuance of the notification, so there is a wave of happiness among most of the employees unions and their associated employees, although there is disappointment among some employees who are going to retire on March 31 because the Central Service Rules are going to be implemented from April 1, 2022. The retirement age of the employees will be 60 years, which is 58 years now.
The people and employees associated with Chandigarh are now demanding that Chandigarh should be given full UT status. It should be completely freed from the claim of Punjab Haryana.
★ These will be the benefits:
- Now UT Employees will get Conveyance Allowance which will get 3600/- + DA for the employees taking 3600/- grade pay and 7200/- + DA for those taking 5400/- or more grade pay.
- In Chandigarh, apart from the Principal, posts of Vice Principal will also be created, due to which the salary will increase on getting the new pay scale.
- House allowance will also be increased now.
- Employees will start getting the seventh pay scale. At present, the sixth pay scale was being available under the Punjab Service Rules.
- The retirement age in Class 3 category will be 60 years while the retirement age of Class IV employees will be 62 years.
The retirement age of teachers working in colleges will increase from 60 to 65. - Tuition fees for the children of the employees will be available till graduation instead of 18 years.
- DA will automatically increase as soon as the central government rules are issued. For this, the administration has to make orders through notification.
- The probation period, which is currently three years, will also be reduced to one year. You will get full salary.
- Child care leave will be increased from one to two years
★ This will be a loss:
- Employees will suffer on getting the pay scale of the center. Earlier they used to get 10 Leaves for 10 years, 15 Leaves from 10 years to 15 years and 20 casual leave after 15 years of service which will now be 8 but on administrative post they will get 30 EL which was earlier available only 8.
- The salary of employees of some other departments including the police department may decrease. But it is being said that it will be fulfilled by the allowance.
- The age of recruitment is likely to decrease. Due to the efforts of MP Kirron Kher, the age of recruitment in jobs was raised to 37 years, which was a big relief for the unemployed, but it will now come down according to the rules of the Center.
- Inter UT transfer policy can be started.
